1. What is the cost of camp? What are the three options?back to top

The actual cost of camp is listed as Tier A - $515. As a non-profit organization, Camp Fire works to make our summer camp program accessible to many families. As a result, we offer two subsidizes fees listed as Tier B - $465 and Tier C - $415.

Families choose the fee that best fits their available level of support. Campers experience the same program, regardless of the chosen fee. Families should contact the Camp Fire office if additional financial assistance is needed.

2. When is my payment due?back to top

A $50 deposit is required to reserve a spot. Your final payment is due in full thirty days prior to the start of the camp session.

5. Is my child ready for camp?back to top

Parents are expected to determine whether their children are prepared for camp. Your child will be away from home for a week with no parent contact other than written letters. Mild homesickness is normal for many first time campers and we will be ready with plenty of support. Here are some strategies to ensure a smooth transition to camp:

  • Involve your kids in the decision.
  • Encourage practice time away. Let them spend a weekend with a friend or relative without contacting you by telephone.
  • Display confidence and enthusiasm about the good experience they will have at camp. Avoid making deals about being picked up prior to the completion of the camp session.

6. What does ACA accreditation mean?back to top

Camp Wamatochick is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA), which means that we have voluntarily invited an outside team of trained ACA visitors to verify compliance with over 200 standards in health, safety, staffing, training and transportation. For more information about ACA, check out www.acacamps.org.
